This article analyses the appearance of the Risen Jesus Christ to his disciples on the evening of Easter Sunday, at the house of Mary, the mother of the evangelist Mark, commenting on the passages from John 20:19–23, Luke 24:36–43 and Mark 16:14. It examines the reality of the risen body, the institution of the Sacraments of Holy Orders and Penance, the apostles’ missionary commission and the providential absence of Thomas, with references to St John Chrysostom and St Justin the Martyr.

The study argues that the writings and lives of the Holy Fathers of the Church — from Saint John Chrysostom and Saint Basil the Great to Saint Gregory of Nyssa and Blessed Augustine — constitute an essential pillar in the cultural, spiritual and moral formation of young people in the 21st century. Patristic wisdom offers concrete answers to the identity crisis, ethical relativism and digital misinformation, and the authors propose an innovative patristic pedagogy, adapted to the digital generation through means such as podcasts, mobile apps and reading workshops.

The article analyses the catechetical model of the Church Fathers, from Saint Justin the Martyr and Saint Hippolytus to Saint John Chrysostom and Isidore of Seville, beginning with the primary catechumenate and identifying, through the work of the scholar Francesco Trisoglio, eight patristic catechetical approaches proposed as an alternative to the crisis in contemporary preaching.

The article explores the relationship between science and faith, arguing that the scientist is not a creator but an interpreter of the divine work, drawing on examples from the history of scientific discovery and the thinking of Romanian scholars such as Dr Nicolae Paulescu, Dr Victor Gomoiu and Prof. Ilie Bădescu, as well as the Church Fathers, from Saint Basil the Great to the Thomism of Thomas Aquinas.

Taking as its starting point Jesus Christ’s instruction to his disciples not to call themselves ‘rabbis’ or ‘teachers’, this article examines the role of the theologian in education in the light of Christ’s teaching as the one true Teacher, in contrast to the model of the scribes and Pharisees. Drawing on the thought of Saint Basil the Great and pedagogical anthropology, the author argues that the theologian cannot be an educator in the classical sense, but only a pedagogue who facilitates the disciple’s encounter with Christ, who is both the source and the substance of the pedagogical good. The reader comes to understand that the theologian–disciple relationship transcends the usual didactic hierarchy, both standing on an equal footing as brothers in Christ and disciples of the one Teacher.
