Dan Zamfirescu

Dan Zamfirescu (born 21 December 1933, Bucharest – died 16 July 2024, Bucharest) was a Romanian literary historian and Byzantinist. He published serious historical and philological research that contributed to our understanding of ancient Romanian culture and literature, but at the same time put forward exaggerated hypotheses regarding the importance of these cultural values within European culture as a whole. He is regarded as one of the most important ideologues of Romanian protocronism.
